Data Scrubbing*
Data scrubbing is a data maintenance feature that inspects volumes or disk groups. There are two types of data scrubbing:
- RAID scrubbing: This function can be used with volumes or disk groups that implement SHR (comprised of three or more disks), RAID 5, or RAID 6. It can repair any detected data inconsistencies.
- File system scrubbing: This function can be used with volumes in Btrfs file system. If any data inconsistent with the checksum is detected, the file path will be recorded in Log Center. We strongly recommend you use a backup to repair the data.
We recommend regularly performing data scrubbing to ensure data consistency and avoid data loss in the event of hard drive failure.
To perform data scrubbing:
- Open Storage Manager.
- Go to Volume or Disk Group.
- Select the volume or disk group on which to perform data scrubbing.
- Click Manage.
- Select Data scrubbing.
- Select the desired data scrubbing type. (The system will automatically skip this step if there is only one type available.)
Note:
- Data scrubbing can only be performed when the status of the volume or disk group is Normal.
- If the system is shut down before completion, you will need to manually restart data scrubbing from the beginning.
